Founded in Yokohama 135 years ago, Yokohama National University has developed and grown along with the international city of Yokohama, the place from which the cultural enlightenment of modern Japan began. Yokohama is also a highly developed industrial district. Despite the close proximity to the heart of Japan’s second largest city, our campus is set in verdant surroundings and offers a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere and a superior place of learning closely connected with society.

Our faculty members have excellent teaching skills and motivation and are responsible for the delivery of practical education based on their own research. In addition to basic skills, they will provide you with guidance in systematic learning processes that will enable you to make steady progress in acquiring specialist knowledge in fields you want to pursue. We also place importance on understanding forefront issues, exchanges between Japanese and international students, and learning in collaboration with the society through internships.

Working in society means to become a professional person who is able to obtain a job that bring satisfaction as well as remuneration (income) through the acquisition of special skills and to go one step further than simply being an employee of a company or organization.
