On Friday, May 23rd 2014, YNU reunion was held in Shanghai.
From YNU, President Kunio Suzuki, Vice President Hitoshi Yamada, College of Business Administration Dean Hiroyuki Yamada, Graduate School of International Social Sciences Professor & Information Technology Service Center Director Yuichi Hasebe, Graduate School of International Social Sciences Professor Peijun Guo, Graduate School of International Social Sciences Professor & Center for Economic Growth Strategy Director Hiroyuki Yagi, Information Technology Service Center Professor Haoyuan Xu, International Strategy Organization Associate Professor Hisami Andrade, Graduate School of Urban Innovation Associate Professor Mihoko Matsuyuki, General Affairs Department Public Relations Division Mr. Hironori Kitazawa, and International Office Manager Yoko Ito were present at event.

The reunion party was started by the greetings from Professor Xu and Associate Professor Andrade, President Suzuki then introduced the recent activities of YNU.
After Consulate-General of Japan in Shanghai Consul Rio Higuchi gave a toast, College of Economics graduate and the chairperson of YNU Alumni Association in Shanghai Mr. Shunpei Yoshitomi gave a speech on the alumni activities. The alumni shared their good memories in Yokohama and their recent situation in a friendly atmosphere.
An introduction video of university created by YNU students, was played during the party and received the attention of the participants. The graduates had a cheer when they saw an new entrance to the university main gate and the symbolic monument made out of marble.
President Suzuki greeted each table and enjoyed talking with alumni and taking commemorative photos.

In total, 70 persons including Chinese alumni, Japanese alumni who work in Shanghai, and YNU exchange students who are now studying at the universities in Shanghai, participated in the reunion. They exchanged the name cards here and there, embraced each other enjoyed their reunion.

 


The shanghai alumni association has been very active, it has participated in “The intercollegiate golf competition” as YNU university team and held informal alumni meetings periodically.
Moreover, the alumni association positively supports the activity of YNU exchange students, the visiting teaching staff and students to the Shanghai universities.
Furthermore, there are several Chinese graduates who work as teaching staff at the partner universities of YNU such as Shanghai Jiao Tong University, East China Normal University and Tongji University. They help promoting the exchange between YNU and its partner universities.  

We hope that the bond among alumni was strengthened and the alumni network in China would be further expanded by the event.
