Associate Professor Ken Nakano of the Graduate School of Environment & Information Sciences received an Award for the Best Poster at the International Tribology Congress ASIATRB 2010, in Perth, Australia, December 5-9, 2010.

The poster, entitled "Transient Processes of Stick-Slip at Dry/Wet Interfaces", was jointly authored with Satoru Maekawa (2nd-year Doctoral student, Graduate School of Environment & information Sciences) and Atsushi Suzuki (Toyota Motor Company). The award committee recognized the merit of an experimental attempt to monitor supersonic transient phenomena that occur on contact surface by: setting up for measurement a longitudinal line contact on an acrylic slider-on-block; using a high-speed camera to record visualized contact surface; and measuring synchronously the normal- and tangential loads applied to slider.
