Postdoctoral Research Positions at the Global Center of Excellence (Global COE) Program of "Global Eco-Risk Management from Asian Viewpoints" at Yokohama National University


  1. OUTLINE OF THE FELLOWSHIP:
    The purpose of the fellowship is to provide opportunities for young postdoctoral researchers to conduct research with leading research groups in Yokohama National University in cooperation with National Institute for Environmental Studies under the Global COE program "Global Eco-Risk Management from Asian Viewpoints" supported by Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (see  http://gcoe.eis.ynu.ac.jp/eng/index.html for detail).
    Postdoctoral research positions (part-timer) are open to any candidate who fulfills the listed academic requirements below regardless of gender or nationality.


  2. RESEARCH FIELDS:
    Any research field of Ecology and Environmental Sciences related with the above research projects of Eco-Risk Management such as (i) formation of research network between Japan and foreign countries, (ii) protection of biodiversity, (iii) risk management of toxic chemicals, (iv) environmental risk management, (v) constructing international information platform, (vi) practical environmental sciences and technologies, and (vii) environmental law and policy.


  3. FELLOW ELIGIBILITY:
    Each candidate for the Fellowship must hold a doctoral degree when the Fellowship goes into effect.


  4. NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS AWARDED:
    Two Fellowships will be granted.


  5. DURATION AND COMMENCEMENT OF THE FELLOWSHIP:
    Fellowships are awarded for a period of 4 months, from 1st December 2009 to 31st March 2010. Successful candidates will be awarded the Fellowships until 31st March 2012.

      3. Three reprints or copies of your principal publications
      4. Summary of your previous research experiences in about 1,000 words

      6. The name and contact details of one academic referees who can evaluate your achievements

      8. A copy of doctoral degree or a certificate of anticipated doctoral degree. *Submit documents pertaining to the selection used only for screening, pursuant to the University is managed properly.
    2. Employment starts from 1st December 2009 (until 31st March 2010).

  9. SELECTION PROCESS AND NOTIFICATION:
    1. Selection process:
      Screening is conducted by the Global COE administrative committee based on the two criteria listed below.
      1. The research results are excellent, and it is assumed that the candidate has enough ability  toperform the research in the Global COE program as an independent researcher.
      2. The research plan is concrete, and it is expected that the candidate will obtain excellent results in the Global COE program.
    2. Notification of selection results:
      Notification of the selection results will be made in writing to the candidate as soon as after the screening process.
