Representatives from Taiyuan University of Technology (China) visits YNU

TYUT is a university located in Shanxi Provence with approximately 20,000 undergraduate students and 4,500 graduate students, and is mainly an engineering university which was selected as one of the “211 Project” university (A project focusing exclusively on the development of more than 100 universities, aiming to educate high-caliber resources as well as to create the basis for solving significant science and technology issues under the establishment of nations’ economical and social development). However, similar to YNU, it has a wide variety of departments, including art, business, and sports related departments. On the day, led by Prof. Tadayoshi Murata and Prof. Feng Liangzhen from the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences, the representatives were welcomed by Vice-President Kisugi, Suzuki and Watanabe, Dean of Faculty of Engineering Kokubun and Dean of Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences Inoue. In the meeting, President Xie made an official invitation to President Iida who was not able to attend the meeting and proposed a visit to TYUT by YNU seeking for future exchange relations including the new academic exchange agreement between the two universities. YNU also showed a strong interest by proposing research collaborations and student exchanges. Thereafter, the group visited the Information Processing Center and the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Ryuji Kohno and after a quick lunch break, they also visited laboratories of Prof. Hirohisa Tanaka and Prof. Masayoshi Watanabe. Overall, the group from Tai Yuan University of Technology was very energetic and the day went very well. The visit from Taiyuan University of Technology is expected to be the starting point for the future relationship between both universities. |
