The 59th NAFSA (Association for International Educators) Annual Conference, an international educators conference was held at Minneapolis, USA from May 29th to June 1st and Associate Prof. Kenji Watanuki of the Faculty of Economics, Ms. Miyuki Mizutani of the Student Exchange Division and Mr. Atsushi Kurihara of the Science and International Affairs Division represented YNU to join the meeting. The purpose of this conference was to broaden the networks between universities from all over the world while sharing information with each other, and the Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO), a membership of NAFSA, represented more than 30 universities including YNU from Japan.
With more than 400 groups setting up booth at the Minneapolis Convention Center, the Japanese group held a section named “Study in Japan”, introducing each universities with pamphlets, giving information about the educational programs and discussing the possibility of student exchange, university collaboration, etc. Many people visited the YNU booth, showing a strong interest toward the University. Also, the staffs met members from YNU exchange partner universities which was a great opportunity to know each other and deepen the friendship while discussing the current situation and future plans regarding the exchange program.
Later, there was a reception hosted by JASSO providing a great opportunity to meet with representatives from many universities around the world. The conference gave a great opportunity to create networks with partner universities as well as knowing more about the situation of higher education in the world.
