第二言語習得研究の世界的第一人者であるRod Ellis教授(University of Auckland)をお招きして、生徒が教室で第二言語（英語）を身につける指導法を学びます。生徒の授業への取り組みが変わります。

A task is a language-learning activity where (1) there is a primary focus on meaning (rather than form), (2) there is some kind of gap (i.e. an information or opinion gap), (3) the learners have to use their own linguistic and non-linguistic resources when performing the task, and (4) the success of the activity is established by seeing if the learners have achieved the communicative outcome. In short, a task requires that learners treat English as a ‘tool’ for communicating rather than as an ‘object’ to be studied and memorized.
The talk provides an introduction to the role that tasks can play in language learning and teaching. It describes different types of tasks and also provides opportunities for students to perform a number of tasks so they can experience task-based teaching for themselves.
