On Wednesday of July 16, 2014, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU, China) delegation of Vice President WU Dan and other 6 people visited YNU.

SJTU is one of the leading universities in China and also famous for its commitment to create an independent ranking of world universities. YNU has signed the academic exchange agreement with SJTU since 1982 to result in having its longest history of exchanging along with SJTU. Exchanging of personnel has also been active mainly in the field of engineering, for example, Professor MA Ning, Vice Dean of School of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Civil Engineering, SJTU, who studied for a bachelor’s degree from YNU and finally got a doctor’s degree, too.

In 2012, SJTU Graduate School and the three graduate schools of YNU on engineering systems agreed to the double-degrees program to enable their students to acquire degrees from the both graduate schools. The delegations visited Faculty of Engineering from the morning to have discussions for Mr. KAI Zhang, a participant student to the double-degrees program from SJTU Graduate School to have enrolled to Graduate School of Urban Innovation, YNU, to attend all day long, to take part in the discussions including evaluation of the current status of the program.

The delegations visited the President’s Office. President SUZUKI Kunio and other 8 academic & administrative staff to have close relationship with SJTU, and also Mr. Kai welcomed them. The academic staff of YNU to have daily-based research collaboration with SJTU and the delegations including Professor Ma greeted merrily each other. The discussions went on in a warm atmosphere from beginning to end, to come to a conclusion that the long relationship of exchanging between YNU and SJTU should be deepened more, including further development of the double-degrees program.
