2015 YNU Philippine Alumni Reunion with YNU Stole
On Friday, February 20th, 2015 YNU Philippine Alumni Reunion was held at Manila.

From YNU, Professor of Faculty of International Social Sciences and Director of Information Technology Service Center Yuichi Hasebe, who is elected as YNU president from April 2015, Faculty of International Social Sciences Professor Ichiro Araki, International Strategy Organization Associate Professor Hisami Andrade, Faculty of International Social Sciences Associate Professor Takaaki Kobayashi, Faculty of International Social Sciences Associate Professor Tomoko Kakee, Section Chief of International Office Mr. Eiji Kotani and Administrative Staff Ms. Saori Saito from International Office were present at the event.

The reunion party was started with a greeting from Professor Hasebe, then Mr. Masashi Iwami of JETRO (Japan External Trade Organization) Manila, who was an alumnus of YNU, gave a toast and greeting.
The alumni shared their good memories in Yokohama and their recent situations in a friendly atmosphere.
During the party, Associate Professor Andrade gave a presentation with power point for introduction on the recent situations and performance of YNU.
Those present gave a cheer here and there to know the changes of YNU which they had never known since they were the students.

Next, there was an election for the chairperson of YNU Philippine Alumni Association.
Mr. Fabro Vicente was elected for the chairperson and Mr. Takayuki Kobayashi was elected for a vice-chair unanimously.
Mr. Vicente greeted, “I was waiting eagerly for such an alumni association being held in Philippines all the while. An alumni reunion should be held every year in the Philippines from now on, and I would like to strengthen a network among the alumni and also with YNU, our alma mater.”


This time alumni, 16 undergraduate and 8 graduate current YNU students participated in this reunion. Undergraduate students had been in a short-term English program at University of Saint Thomas and graduate students had been in “Development Cooperation Fieldwork” a course project of Graduate School of International Social Sciences (International Business Law). They had a precious opportunity to have a talk with the Philippines and Japanese alumni who played an active part in the Philippines, possible to be well stimulated.

The first alumni in the Philippines welcomed about 50 participants and have ended over the successfully. YNU has extensively performed student and researcher exchanges with the universities located in the Philippines. It is expected more active exchanges and firm network among the Filipinos and Japanese alumni, academic and administrative staff of YNU, and also the students through the alumni reunion.
