On Monday, March 30th of 2015, YNU welcomed Mr. Kingo Toyoda, Assistant Secretary of International Cooperation Bureau, MOFA, for his special lecture.

Mr. Toyoda graduated from College of Economics of YNU and entered the former Economic Planning Agency of Japan. After that, he held several important positions on economics in Kasumigaseki, or some of Japanese government departments, to be assigned to the entitled position in July, 2014. He used to serve as a professor of Cooperative Research and Development Center, YNU, and had successively been in considerably great service to his alma mater. Taking this opportunity, he gave a lecture entitled “Globalization in the 21st century –Proposal to Universities and Local Societies-,” under the theme of development of international presence, not a university alone but cooperation with the local society also in scope.

The lecture was given in the Conference Room No.1, Administration Bureau. The main topics were the reformed ODA and related subjects to be resolved in promotion of globalization by universities and local societies. The next president Professor Yuichi Hasebe, the next executive director for international affairs Professor Fumihiko Nakamura, many other teaching staff who had made efforts to international exchanges, and administrative staff of YNU alumni society attended and listened to the lecture by Mr. Toyoda eagerly.

Mr. Toyoda’s intension that he would like to talk as a graduate of YNU, not as a government official resulted in such a lecture. Many graduates also support YNU like this.
