On Wednesday, June 17, 2015, Rector Nyunt Phay of Pathein University (Hereafter PU, Myanmar), his wife Ms. Nan Nan Moe, Director of Shwe Beikman Construction Co., Ltd. Mr. U Kyaw Soe, and Mr. Katsuhiko Ando, Biological Resource Center, National Institute of Technology and Evaluation visited YNU.

Pathein is the second largest port-city next to Yangon, which is located in the southern Myanmar and has got its development with Myanmar-Thailand trade. It is also traditionally a rice market and a local key traffic station. Rector Phay has come from such a place to study in Japan and earn a doctor’s degree. His wish is to broaden and strengthen relationships to Japanese universities to visit YNU along with people of his league.

The delegation visited the Executive Director’s office to be welcomed by Executive Director Fumihiko Nakamura and International Office Manager Ms. Yoko Ito. PU presented their institution and the situations of its academic exchanges and research collaboration. Several academic fields they hoped to accelerate academic exchanges were also in scope of the discussion, which were followed with questions by the attendees from YNU, to exchange opinions in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Future exchanges with YNU should be accelerated, led by the rector who is well versed in Japan.
