A delegation from University of Science & Technology Beijing, China visited YNU

On November 24th Friday, 2017, Dr. Dongbai Sun, Executive Vice President from Sun Yat-Sen University, and Dr. Hai Chang, Dr. Wenyue Zheng, Dr. Jin Ying and Dr. Koichi Yagi, Senior Advisor, from National Center for Materials Service Safety (NCMS) of University of Science & Technology Beijing, China visited YNU. Dr. Sun, currently belonging to Sun Yat-Sen University, had been a Director of NCMS till end of August, 2017, and this time Dr. Sun visited YNU in relation to NCMS. The visitors were welcomed by Executive Director and Vice President Fumihiko Nakamura, Prof. Osamu Umezawa from Faculty of Engineering and International Office Manager Tomoko Takeuchi.

In the meeting, Executive Director and Vice President Nakamura stated welcome greetings and an outline of YNU, where it was explained that there are approximately 10,000 students in total among which about 10% are the international students and half of them are from China. Also, it was introduced that YNU has exchange agreements with University of Science & Technology Beijing and Sun Yat-Sen University, and there are active exchanges with about 20 universities in China.

Followed by that, Dr. Chang gave presentation on NCMS. In the social context of infrastructure development and construction in China, it was introduced that NCMS aims to work as a bridge to industries by conducting material safety assessment and also to provide educational facilities for young researchers. Also various research facilities were explained which will be installed in NCMS building with a total floor area of 150,000㎡, which is currently under construction as a new campus of Beijing University of Science & Technology. YNU is a university where research in the field of safety engineering is vigorous at Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences and both universities promised to continue talking about future collaboration.

Through this visit, the further development of exchanges with University of Science & Technology Beijing is expected.
