Vietnamese science and technology researchers visited YNU by Sakura Science Plan

On February 20 Thursday, 2020, in the "Sakura Science Plan" conducted by the Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), 25 science and technology officials from universities and government agencies in Vietnam and 3 staff from JST, JISTEC (Japan International Science and Technology Exchange Center) visited YNU. The delegation was welcomed by Vice President NAKAMURA Fumihiko, Prof. MORITA Hiroshi of Faculty of International Social Sciences, Prof. CHO Seigen of Faculty of Urban Innovation, Assoc. Prof. ARAKI Takuto of Faculty of Engineering, Assoc. Prof. KASAI Naoya and Assoc. Prof. MATSUI Kazumi of Faculty of Environment and Information Sciences, and International Office Manager NITTA Tomoki.

This visit program was conducted as a part of the Sakura Science Plan because YNU has been one of the coordinating universities of Japan-Vietnam University and also very active to international exchange with Vietnam. In the program, following the welcome greetings of Vice President NAKAMURA and the brief introduction of YNU by manager NITTA, the faculty members explained the following four projects which have been implementing in collaboration with universities and cities in Vietnam

・Collaborations with Universities in Vietnam (Japan-Vietnam University)

・Research collaboration of safety science between YNU and the University of Danang

・Intended Lecture Series at the University of Da Nang, University of Technology since 2017 Workshops for CAE/Robotics/Heats

・Projects on Sustainability and Energy Conservation of Buildings in Da Nang, Vietnam

After the introduction of the projects, the delegation toured Y-GSA (Yokohama Graduate School of Architecture) and the Ship Model and Seakeeping Basin. At Y-GSA, Assoc. Prof. TERADA Mariko and Assoc. Prof. TANAKA Inako of the Faculty of Urban Innovation explained the outline and features of Y-GSA, and also introduced the architectural models produced by students. At the Ship Model and Seakeeping Basin, Professor KAWAMURA Yasumi and Assoc. Prof. HIRAKAWA Yoshiaki of the Faculty of Engineering gave a demonstration of creating waves in the large basin and explained about simulations of actual airplanes and ships by using slides.

Through this visit, further cooperation between Vietnam and YNU is expected.
