[Event Report] SDGs and study abroad under COVID19 Workshop・Career vision for 2030 and take action!

On Wednesday, March 3, 2021, the "Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and study abroad under COVID19 Workshop" was held online by the International Strategy Organization. In the first half, Ms. ABUKAWA Maki, who is a representative of Career Frontier and a certified SDGs 2030 Game Facilitator, demonstrated ways to think about career vision and make an action plan while deepening the knowledge of SDGs.
In the second half, an online quiz using Kahoot! was facilitated by Owen Magsumbol from the YCCS program of the Faculty of Urban Sciences (3rd grade). Finally, breakout rooms were allocated and had discussions on changes in feelings regarding the international exchange and gender issues in our society.
This workshop was planned by the research team of the Global Engagement Project, which examines various ways of studying abroad under COVID19, and was coordinated by Professor TANABU Motonari, Assistant Professor KAWACHI Kumiko, and Assistant Professor UEMATSU Kiyoko.

Under the COVID19 situation, students are facing challenges to adjust their study abroad plans and restrictions on international exchange activities on campus, however, many participants showed signs of a positive attitude and "do what we can do now" in attending this workshop. Participants came from diverse backgrounds, so students made full use of both Japanese and English languages and actively participated in the discussions. We hope that this event will lead participants to reflect on making difference in their daily lives to some extent, and even under COVID19, find ways to take actions towards SDGs.
